Tonight I asked God, how can you help me forgive when every day I wake up angry about the same thing? And I take all day trying to forgive, and I go to bed feel like like I've finally done it, to wake up in the morning (or sometimes even in the middle of the night) re-enraged.
Jesus does so much more than just arbitrarily tell me to let it go. He affronts each injustice and looks at it head on. He stands beside his followers and protects them. He advocates for their pardon and eternal sealing. He opens his arms to the hurt and broken. He forgives my sin completely, and he gives me his Holy Spirit to help and direct me. He also gives me his Sovereign word. God excuses the greatest injustice in history... the blasphemy and fallenness of humanity... with his own blood as the payment. Then he asks me to forgive.
Thank you, God, for being my hiding place any my friend. You never require me to follow a law or a code to please you. Instead you show me irrepayable, incomprehensible love and change my heart to be more like yours.
